BCP Annual SEND Survey

BCP Annual SEND Survey 2024

BCP Council published two versions of the survey- one for children and young people accessing SEND support and one for their parents and carers.
The Council wanted to hear the experiences of SEND support, for those who access school, college, healthcare and services in the community. The survey was created in partnership with parents, carers and partners from other organisations including ourselves Parent Carers Together.

All responses were anonymised and used to help BCP shape their services to meet local need.

The survey closed on 31st October. In December, the forum received the initial results data from the Local Authority. 133 parents responded to the survey, which is slightly fewer than last year.

We sent our members an email to include summary charts and trend analysis we generated from the data which you can access by clicking the blue button blue.

BCP Annual SEND Survey 2023

Last year’s annual survey by BCP Council closed on 13th December.

116 children and young people completed the 2023 survey. 142 parents and carers did also, which was a lot lower than the 264 who participated the year before.

Parent Carers Together comments-
• 60% of parents are happy with their child’s school, although we think BCP should aim higher than that. PCT are concerned that 28% of parents are not happy with their child’s educational setting
• PCT are sad to see that perceptions have got worse (compared to last year) in all but three of the questions on this survey.
• We are concerned that only one-quarter of parents ‘feel confident and supported’ and that, despite some improvement compared to last year, still only one-third of parents feel that their child is getting all the support they need.
