📌Sharing on behalf The Powerhouse Poole.

This summer they are launching a brand-new youth space for 11–16-year-olds, with weekly sessions at The Hub and the Cornerstone Patch in Hamworthy.
The sessions are designed to be welcoming, relaxed and inclusive, giving young people a safe space to be creative, spend time outdoors, make friends and simply belong over the summer holidays.

There is a suggested donation of £5 per session to help cover food, refreshments and resources.

Please see poster for more information.

SWRAC Specialist College have asked us to share some information with you and your young person.

Starting in September, there is a wonderful opportunity for young people aged 18-25 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), to access a year long Supported Internship with Amazon based at their warehouse facility at Sterte, Poole. The students who participated this year have all been offered some form of employment. Amazon have reportedly been excellent with all the young people.

For those young people aged 18-25 with an EHCP, able to travel a bit further, there are opportunities for them to get real life work experience for a year with ASDA in Weymouth or the RNAS in Yeovilton.

Throughout their placement with Asda, interns rotate through different departments, gaining a variety of experiences, from serving customers on the checkouts to working alongside the bakery team and much more. Alongside their placements, they also come together for classroom sessions to reflect on their experiences and continue developing the skills they'll use in the workplace and beyond.

Please contact SWRAC direct to find out more-

📢 Research Opportunity for Carers of Adults with a Learning Disability

We are sharing this opportunity from Queen Mary University of London for carers and parents who support adults aged 18–45 with a learning disability.

Researchers are looking to better understand the relationship between sleep quality, sensory sensitivities (such as noise, touch and light), and daytime behaviours in adults with learning disabilities – an area that is currently under-researched.

✅ Who can take part?

Carers or parents of adults aged 18–45 with a learning disability
Adults with a learning disability can also complete the questionnaire alongside their carer/parent

✅ What's involved?

An online questionnaire taking approximately 30–60 minutes
Can be completed by the carer alone or together with the person they support

✅ Thank you voucher

Participants can choose to receive a £15 Amazon voucher as a thank you for taking part (both participants can receive a voucher if completing together).

📧 Interested or have questions?
Please contact Elle Jarvis at: e.c.jarvis@se25.qmul.ac.uk

Please note: BCP Carers Support is simply sharing this research opportunity on behalf of the study team. We are not involved in the research itself.

👩‍💻Newlife's survey👩‍💻

Newlife, the charity for Disabled Children, who work to empower disabled children and their families to live life to the fullest.

Newlife has commissioned Fiveways, an independent research organisation, to better understand the day-to-day experiences of families caring for a disabled or seriously ill child, including challenges around play, equipment and accessing support.

Newlife would like to hear about your experiences and views on what would make the biggest difference for families in the future. They have developed a short survey, which should take around ten minutes to complete.

As a thank you for taking part, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of four £50 shopping vouchers.

There are no right or wrong answers – your honest experiences are what matter most. Your feedback will help Newlife better understand the needs of families and shape future support.

⏳CLOSING DATE IS THIS THURSDAY 17th JULY!
