👍PCT Met with Troy
Yesterday, PCT held our last steering group meeting before the summer holidays and we were pleased to be joined by Troy Hobbs, Services Manager at BCP Council. Troy has been in place now for a few months and oversees the:
*Statutory SEND Team
*Quality Assurance Team
*Education Psychology Team
Troy was with us for 2.5 hours and during that time we discussed quite a few things particularly around EHCPs, the quality and the importance of them.
We informed Troy of some of issues parents have brought to us and collectively we talked about how these issues could be addressed:
*We have asked if there can be a who's who (Senior level) within BCP which we can share with ours members-we hope to have this by September once further recruitment has been completed, then you can put a name to a job title. We have also stressed the importance to parents of having an updated EHCCos (Education, Health and Care Coordinators, formerly known as SEND Case Officers) list.
*We talked about communicating with parents and the SEND team are looking at ways they could communicate more effectively with parents via phone, email and face to face.
In order to help the team communicate in a timely manner, parents have been asked to avoid sending multiple emails to the team on the same subject as this will create a backlog.
The SEND team recognise your child is your one and only priority (and rightly so) but have asked for kindness towards staff which sadly at times as not been forthcoming.
*We talked about the current Local Offer and how it could look in the future.
-There are 2 open surveys if you wished to have your say:

The forum found Troy to be very passionate-he recognizes there is work to do but was very supportive of his teams and has ideas he hopes to implement in the future that will improve timescales, quality and the child/parent experience.
From September, we hope to meet with him regularly and will keep you posted.
